The university’s strong industry connections, extensive alumni network, and commitment to innovation and excellence provide you with the tools and opportunities to advance your career and make a meaningful impact in your field.
How will a Master’s degree or graduate certificate help my career?
A Master’s degree or graduate certificate can significantly boost your career by deepening your expertise in a specialized field, enhancing your qualifications for advanced roles, and potentially increasing your earning potential. It also provides opportunities for networking and developing skills that are highly valued in the job market. Additionally, the experience can broaden your perspectives, build lasting connections, and empower you to achieve your long-term goals.
What should I look for in an online graduate program?
When choosing an online program, look for one with a successful history of delivering high-quality online instruction, low student attrition, dedicated full-time faculty, high levels of student satisfaction, and minimal required travel. UF College of Pharmacy’s online programs are structured, instructor-led, and use multimedia content with online technologies.
Is a thesis required for the Master’s degree program?
Our online Master’s degree programs are professionally focused and do not require a thesis. Instead, students complete a Capstone project, where they develop practical solutions to real-world challenges for an assigned client.
Will the online Master’s program prepare me for a Doctor of Philosophy program?
Our online Master’s programs are tailored for professional development rather than research. If you are considering pursuing a Ph.D., a thesis-based, in-residence master’s program may be a more suitable option, as Ph.D. programs generally favor candidates with significant research experience.
Will my diploma or graduate certificate indicate that my program was online?
Your diploma or certificate will be indistinguishable from the transcript that students who complete all courses residentially receive. The online graduate programs at UF are just as rigorous and respected as their in-residence counterparts, and your credentials will be indistinguishable from those earned on campus.
What is the difference between an online graduate certificate and an online Master’s degree?
An online Master’s degree is a significant academic achievement, typically requiring 30 to 33 credit hours and providing a deep, comprehensive understanding of the subject. In contrast, an online graduate certificate offers focused, practical skills in a specific area, usually requiring 9 to 15 credit hours, and is a more concise educational experience. Additionally differences are:
- Financial Aid Eligibility: Online graduate certificate students are not eligible for federally guaranteed financial aid, such as student loans.
- Application Process: The application process for online graduate certificates is generally shorter and less complex than for online Master’s programs.
How long will it take?
The online Master’s degree can be completed in two years (24 months) or six semesters. Most students opt for the two-year plan, but working professionals may take longer. Students have up to seven years from the date of admission to complete the program. An online graduate certificate can be completed in as little as one year. Note: Students who do not enroll in at least one class for more than two consecutive semesters will become inactive and need to reapply for readmission
I am not very computer savvy; can I still succeed in an online graduate program?
The University of Florida provides technical support for students who may not be experienced with computers. In addition to assistance from program staff and coordinators, technical support is available via phone and email.
I have a busy work and family life and cannot attend classes each week. Is an online graduate program suitable for me?
Our online graduate programs are designed to be flexible and convenient. Students can complete most of their studies at their own pace and from their home or workplace without needing to pause their career or relocate.
